Lionel Messi scored and provided an assist as Inter Miami secured a 3-1 win over Seattle Sounders in their Major League Soccer fixture at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Wednesday.

The win served as a measure of revenge for Miami, who had fallen to the same opponents in the Leagues Cup 2025 final earlier this month.

This time, the hosts looked sharper from the outset, with Jordi Alba opening the scoring in the 12th minute after being set up by Messi.

Just before halftime, Messi doubled Miami’s lead, finishing off a precise cross from Alba, who returned the favour with an accurate delivery into the box.

Ian Fray added a third for the home side in the second half, rising to head home a corner delivered by Rodrigo De Paul.

The result marked a strong response from Inter Miami as they continue their MLS campaign with renewed momentum.
