A total of 176 Bangladeshi nationals have returned home from Libya after being released from the Tajoura Detention Centre in Tripoli.

The repatriation took place on Thursday (Sept 18), according to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli.

In a statement, the embassy said it has been working closely with local Libyan authorities and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to ensure the safe return of detained Bangladeshis from various detention centres.

As part of this ongoing effort, the 176 individuals were repatriated with support from the IOM.

The returnees travelled on a chartered flight operated by Libya’s Burak Air, arranged with IOM’s assistance.
