Election Commission (EC) Secretary Akhtar Ahmed has confirmed that as the National Citizen Party (NCP) will not be allotted the ‘Shapla’ (water lily) election symbol, it must propose an alternative symbol for approval.

Speaking to reporters at the Election Commission office on Tuesday (September 23), he said the matter will be resolved by mutual agreement between the two parties.

Responding to the NCP’s insistence on keeping the ‘Shapla’ symbol, the EC Secretary stated that the symbol is not on the approved list. “Now it is up to them to submit an alternative proposal to us. We will notify them accordingly, and the matter will be settled with the consent of both sides,” he added.

He said clearly that the NCP will not receive the ‘Shapla’ symbol.
