BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to unite for the rebuilding of Bangladesh.

He said, “My request to you is this—let us unite today on one issue, and that is Bangladesh. We must dare to dream. The dream shown to us by Dr. Yunus, we must carry forward.”

Fakhrul made these remarks on Saturday while speaking at a session of the event “NRB Connect Day: Empowering Global Bangladeshis”, held at the New York Marriott Marquis (1535 Broadway) in Manhattan.

The event’s keynote address was delivered by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Fakhrul emphasized that the most urgent need was a commitment to change. “Previous authoritarian regimes have destroyed public trust and left the country in disarray,” he said.

The BNP leader added, “Our party is cooperating with the reform commissions formed by the interim government. Let me make it clear before everyone—BNP will only do what serves the people and benefits Bangladesh.”

He also highlighted the role of young people, saying: “The younger generation thinks in modern ways, and BNP has the mindset to embrace those modern ideas.” Fakhrul expressed hope that youth would play a vital role in shaping the future of Bangladesh.

The event was also addressed by Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher and National Citizens’ Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain.
