DMP Imposes Ban on Rallies around Jamuna, Secretariat

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on rallies, processions, demonstrations, human chains, sit-in strikes and any kind of gatherings around the Chief Adviser’s residence -- Jamuna, its adjacent areas including Hotel Intercontinental crossing, Kakrail Mosque crossing, Minto Road and Officer’s Club crossing and the Secretariat.

In a public order signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, the DMP imposed the restriction under the powers vested in Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76) in the interest of maintaining public order and ensuring safety and security.

The restriction is effective from Tuesday (October 7) and will remain in place until further notice.
