Director General (DG) of the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud has said more than 5.50 lakh members of the force will be deployed to ensure security during the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after a view-exchange meeting organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the basic training (3rd phase) of Ansar VDP at Gokulnagar High School in Ashulia, Savar.

Mahmud said the polling stations have not yet been determined as the election schedule has not been announced.

However, preparations are already underway. Since the August 5, 2024 the entire force has been undergoing restructuring, with a special focus on recruiting young members, he said.

"Earlier, there were no young men in large numbers. Over the last one and a half years, 1.5 to 2 lakh young men aged between 18 and 25 have been recruited and trained. Their training will be completed by next December," he said.

Around 100 men and women are participating in the 10-day training program, organized by Savar Upazila Ansar and VDP office.

Among others present were Dhaka Range Deputy Director Ashraful Alam, Dhaka District Commandant Mohammad Mostaq Ahmed, Dhaka Assistant Commandant Rashidul Hasan Jon, and *Savar Upazila Ansar-VDP Officer Anisur Rahman.
