Govt issues new rules for VVIP security

The government has issued the gazette of the “President, Prime Minister or Chief Adviser and Very Important Persons Security Rules 2025” to ensure the security of the President, the Prime Minister, the Chief Adviser and other very important persons (VVIPs).

The gazette was issued on Tuesday by the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO) with the approval of the President, and was signed by CAO Secretary M Saifullah Panna.

According to the gazette, the rules will come into immediate effect. The new framework brings the security management of the country’s top state functionaries under a more organised, modern and clearly defined legal structure.

The rules outline the responsibilities, structure and duties of the relevant forces and organisations tasked with ensuring security for the President, the Prime Minister, the Chief Adviser and other VVIPs. These provisions cover security during movement, at residences and workplaces, at event venues, and during official visits.

The gazette notes that the rules were formulated in consideration of recent security challenges and evolving realities. Authorities expect the new regulations to strengthen the overall law and order system, in addition to enhancing the protection of key state figures.

Relevant sources said a separate notification containing detailed explanations and operational instructions will be issued later to support the implementation of the new rules.
