The airport-end toll plaza of Dhaka’s Elevated Expressway will remain toll-free for four hours on Thursday, December 25, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, to facilitate smooth entry into the capital.

The decision was announced in a statement issued by the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser on Wednesday.

Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Foyez Ahammed confirmed the matter, citing an official notification.

The temporary toll waiver comes ahead of the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who is scheduled to arrive in the country on Thursday from the United Kingdom after more than 17 years in exile.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party has made extensive arrangements to welcome him, with party leaders, activists and supporters expected to pour into Dhaka from across the country.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have deployed a large number of personnel across the capital to ensure overall security and manage traffic during his arrival.
