Increased LPG Imports to Ensure Smooth Supply in Ramadan

The country is not expected to face any shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) during the upcoming month of Ramadan, according to the energy regulatory authority. Officials said LPG imports would be increased in the coming months to help stabilize the market and ensure uninterrupted supply.

The assurance came during a roundtable discussion titled “Challenges in Regulating the LPG Market” held in the capital. It was stated that a significant volume of LPG is scheduled to arrive in January, which is expected to ease supply pressures ahead of Ramadan.

Currently, however, the LPG market is experiencing unusual volatility in both pricing and supply. In many areas, consumers are reportedly paying nearly double the officially fixed price, yet still struggling to obtain this essential fuel.

Representatives of consumer rights organizations at the discussion called for greater transparency in the pricing mechanism, questioning why customers are forced to pay substantially higher prices than the set rate.

Regulatory officials expressed confidence that, with collective efforts from all stakeholders, the ongoing instability can be addressed and that consumers will not face difficulties obtaining LPG during Ramadan.
