Justice Sought for Dhaka-8 Candidate Sharif Osman Hadi

Inqilab Moncho staged a protest at Dhaka University yesterday, demanding justice for its slain spokesperson, Sharif Osman bin Hadi. Hundreds of supporters participated in the rally, which began after Friday prayers at the university’s central mosque.

During the demonstration, protesters chanted slogans including “We want justice” and carried banners calling for a thorough investigation into Hadi’s murder.

Earlier, a Dhaka court instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct further inquiries into the case. The directive came after the complainant expressed dissatisfaction with the initial investigation and submitted a naraji petition requesting additional scrutiny of the charge sheet.

The court ordered the CID to submit its investigation report by January 20, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner of Prosecution Miah Mohammad Ashis Bin Hasan.

Sharif Osman Hadi, who was also a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in the head on December 12 while traveling in a rickshaw on Culvert Road in Puratan Paltan. He was airlifted to Singapore for advanced treatment but succumbed to his injuries on December 18.
