Independent candidate for the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, Rumin Farhana, has been served with a show-cause notice by the Returning Officer over alleged violations of the election code of conduct. She has been instructed to appear in person to explain her actions.
According to the notice, an election gathering was held where a large stage was set up and political speeches were delivered using loudspeakers without proper authorization, in violation of the election rules. When the on-duty Executive Magistrate ordered the gathering to be dispersed, allegations of rude behavior and threats against the magistrate were reported.
The notice states that the incident led to the creation of a crowd that obstructed judicial duties, constituting a clear breach of the election code of conduct. It further notes that the incident caused negative public reaction and disrupted efforts to ensure a free, fair, and neutral election.
Rumin Farhana has been directed to appear before the Returning Officer and District Administration office on January 22 at 11:00 am to present her explanation. Failure to comply may result in legal action in her absence.
She was earlier fined in connection with the same incident for violating election regulations.
