Tarique Rahman to travel to Sylhet today, shrine visit planned late at night

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to travel to Sylhet tonight as he prepares to formally launch his party’s election campaign from tomorrow.

After arriving in Sylhet by air from Dhaka, he will visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) late at night. The schedule was confirmed this morning by his adviser Mahdi Amin during a briefing at the BNP’s Gulshan office.

“The formal election campaign will begin tomorrow. Tarique Rahman is starting his campaign with the Sylhet visit,” Mahdi Amin said. “He will reach Sylhet around 8:15pm tonight and later visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA),” he added.

According to the adviser, Tarique will attend a programme at the Alia Madrasa playground in Sylhet tomorrow morning. He will then travel to Moulvibazar district to join a gathering at the Sherpur–Ainpur ground in the afternoon.

On the way, he is expected to address a rally at the new upazila parishad ground in Shayestaganj upazila of Habiganj district. Later, he will attend another rally at the Kuttapara Football Ground in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district.

In the afternoon, the BNP chairman is scheduled to address a rally at Bhairab Stadium in Kishoreganj district. While returning to Dhaka, he will join a programme in the municipal area of Narsingdi district, followed by another rally in the Gausia area of Araihazar–Rupganj in Narayanganj district. He is expected to return to his Gulshan residence late at night.

Several senior and young BNP leaders will accompany Tarique Rahman during the Sylhet tour, including Abdul Kadir Bhuiyan Jewel, Mamun Hasan, Abdul Monayem Munna, Kazi Rawnakul Islam Shraban, Yasin Ferdous Murad and Rakibul Islam Rakib, party sources said.
