Foreign diplomats have expressed 100 percent confidence in the Election Commission

After being briefed on the Election Commission’s overall preparations for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, foreign diplomats have expressed their highest level of confidence in the Commission to conduct a free, fair, and neutral election, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin.

He made the remarks on Sunday (25 January) at around 12:15 pm while responding to a question from journalists after a meeting with all foreign diplomats working in embassies and missions in Bangladesh, held at The Westin Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka.

At the time, he said, “Today we informed them in detail about all the processes and preparations we have undertaken to hold a free, fair, neutral, and acceptable election. They expressed satisfaction with our overall preparedness and praised all our activities. They also told us that they are highly confident in the Commission regarding a transparent election.”

He further said, “We presented all our activities before them. We informed them that there is no scope for manipulation here. They are hopeful that we will be able to present the nation with an acceptable election.”

The Chief Election Commissioner added, “Alongside our preparations, they wanted to know about our plans for the deployment of law enforcement agencies during the election. We informed them that, in addition to the police, the army and Ansar will also be deployed during the election.”

He said, “They have understood our action plan very well. They have realized that our objective is completely transparent and that our focus is solely on organizing a proper and credible election. They expressed great satisfaction over this and said they would extend their full cooperation in the future.”

He also said, “You can be assured that from our side, we will continue to make our utmost efforts to ensure the safety of voters and to organize a smooth and credible election.”

Earlier, from 10:00 am today, the Election Commission held a meeting at The Westin ballroom with all foreign diplomats working in embassies and missions in Bangladesh regarding the upcoming national parliamentary election and referendum, 2026.

The meeting was also attended by Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Begum Tahmida Ahmed, Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar, Brigadier General (Retd.) Abu Fazal Md Sanaullah, Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed, and other senior officials of the Election Commission. Ambassadors, high commissioners, and representatives of various countries, as well as the European Union and the United Nations, took part in the meeting.

According to the Election Commission, the meeting was organized to brief diplomats on overall election preparations, the electoral process, appointment of international observers, election transparency, law and order situation, and other urgent and important issues related to the upcoming national parliamentary election.
