Israel has announced that it will reopen the Rafah border crossing only after completing the search and recovery of the remains of the last Israeli hostage in Gaza. The Prime Minister’s Office said a focused military operation is currently underway based on gathered intelligence.
The Rafah crossing, Gaza’s sole gateway to Egypt, has remained closed despite a ceasefire agreement. Israeli authorities stated that the crossing will be reopened on a limited basis once all conditions regarding hostages are fully met.
The development comes amid broader negotiations under a U.S.-backed peace framework, as Gaza enters a new and uncertain phase following prolonged conflict.
