Direct Dhaka-Karachi Flights Resume After 14 Years

After a gap of 14 years, direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi are set to resume from Thursday. The national carrier will initially operate two flights a week on this route, on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The non-stop service is expected to significantly reduce travel time and cut costs by at least BDT 30,000 compared to previous routes that required transit through Middle Eastern hubs. The journey will take around three hours using a Boeing 737 aircraft with a capacity of 162 seats.

All tickets for the inaugural flight have already been sold, while more than 80 percent of seats on the second flight are booked. Aviation experts believe the route will boost passenger travel, cargo transportation, trade, tourism, and overall bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Dhaka-Karachi route was suspended in 2012 due to security concerns.
