The new United States ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent Christensen, has clearly stated that the U.S. will not take sides in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections.

After meeting Chief Election Commissioner A. M. M. Nasir Uddin on Wednesday, Ambassador Christensen emphasized that the outcome of the elections will be decided solely by the Bangladeshi people. “The U.S. is ready to work with any government elected by the people,” he added, underscoring the country’s neutral stance.

The ambassador also expressed interest in the election preparations shared by the Chief Election Commissioner and highlighted the importance of a transparent and fair electoral process. Political analysts say the U.S. position sends a reassuring message to voters and political parties alike, reinforcing confidence in the integrity of the electoral process.
