Six individuals have been arrested in Turkey on charges of political and military espionage for Iran’s intelligence agency. Among the detainees, one is Iranian, while the remaining five are Turkish citizens.

The arrests were carried out on Wednesday (January 28) across five provinces—İstanbul, Van, Samsun, Yalova, and Ankara—in a coordinated operation led by Istanbul Police’s anti-terror unit and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), under the direction of the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities stated that the suspects maintained direct contact with officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and gathered sensitive information about Turkish military installations, including the strategically important Incirlik Air Base and other high-value sites in Turkey and third countries. The group also provided technical assistance for these operations.

The collected intelligence was reportedly transmitted directly to IRGC operators. After completing all legal procedures with the provincial security directorates, the suspects were handed over to the courts.
