BNP-nominated candidate for the Dhaka-08 constituency, Mirza Abbas, has alleged that a certain group is attempting to engage in election engineering. He also questioned why it would take two to three days to obtain election results this time, when results used to be available by the evening on polling day.

Mirza Abbas made these remarks on Thursday afternoon while speaking at a courtyard meeting with traders at Aziz Super Market in Shahbagh, in the capital.

As part of his election campaign, he held a courtyard meeting in the Shahbagh area and later took part in door-to-door campaigning in the Katabon area.

Addressing voters, Mirza Abbas said, “Vote together. Vote for whoever you like. Go to the polling centre and exercise your right.”

He further alleged that a group of youths now mention the name of Mirza Abbas or the opposition more frequently than they invoke the name of Allah—morning, noon, and night. “Their mouths are constantly spewing lies throughout the day,

He said. Offering advice, the Dhaka-08 candidate added, “Contest the election, ask for votes. Tell people what you have done for the country and what you plan to do in the future. It does not matter to me where you come from. There is no need to waste time by backbiting others or committing sins.
