Having performed over 3,000 burials during the COVID-19 pandemic, MASTUL aims to continue this noble service for the sake of Almighty Allah.
DHAKA: MASTUL Foundation, a prominent humanitarian organization in Bangladesh, has officially received approval from the Government to perform the burial and funeral rites of unclaimed (unidentified) bodies. The authorization was granted through an official order from the Ministry of Home Affairs, recognizing the foundation's long-standing dedication to humanitarian causes.
This approval marks a significant milestone for MASTUL Foundation, which has been at the forefront of funeral services during the nation's most critical times. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when many were hesitant to handle the deceased, the brave volunteers of the MASTUL Foundation performed the last rites for more than 3,000 individuals across the country.
With this formal government mandate, MASTUL Foundation is now authorized to systematically manage the ritual bathing (ghusl), shrouding (kafan), and burial of unidentified deceased persons, ensuring they receive a dignified final farewell in accordance with religious and state protocols.
Regarding this achievement, Kazi Reaz Rahman, Founder and Executive Director of MASTUL Foundation, stated: "This approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs is a profound responsibility. We have always performed this work solely for the satisfaction of Almighty Allah and out of our commitment to humanity. Every human being, even if unidentified, deserves a respectful burial. With this official recognition, we are more determined than ever to continue this selfless service with transparency and devotion."
MASTUL Foundation has long been recognized for its diverse social initiatives, including operating orphanages, schools, and providing various emergency relief services. The foundation plans to enhance its logistics, including dedicated ambulances and specialized burial teams, to ensure 24/7 service under this new government authorization.
