Gunshots were fired outside the residence of popular Bollywood director Rohit Shetty in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The incident took place late Saturday night, between approximately 12:40 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., when unidentified assailants fired four to five rounds in front of his house. Police said no one was injured in the incident.
Police and forensic teams rushed to the spot soon after the shooting. According to police, the entire area was cordoned off immediately after the incident and security was tightened. Additional security personnel have now been deployed outside Rohit Shetty’s residence. However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no individual or group has so far claimed responsibility.
Rohit Shetty lives in the upscale Juhu area of Mumbai, which is home to several Bollywood celebrities. Police said an investigation has been launched from all possible angles, and footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being reviewed.
In recent times, there have been several incidents of gunfire outside the homes and business establishments of celebrities from the entertainment industry. On April 14, 2024, shots were fired outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments, in Mumbai. The Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for that attack. Although two people were arrested in the case, they were later released on bail.
Additionally, shots were fired outside the Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh home of Bollywood actress Disha Patani. The Bishnoi gang also claimed responsibility for that attack. The two accused attackers were later killed in a police encounter. In Canada, a café owned by popular comedian Kapil Sharma was targeted in three separate shooting incidents, responsibility for which was also claimed by the same gang. Similarly, shots were fired outside the home of Punjabi singer AP Dhillon in Canada, with the attack claimed by Rohit Godara, who is associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
There was also a shooting incident outside the Gurgaon residence of YouTuber Elvish Yadav. Although one person was arrested in that case, no group claimed responsibility.
The investigation into the recent shooting outside Rohit Shetty’s home is ongoing. Police said they are examining all possible angles to determine the motive behind the incident. Rohit Shetty has not yet made any comment on the matter.
