Gold prices have fallen again in the domestic market. This time, the price has been reduced by Tk 1,925 per bhori, bringing the price of 22-carat gold down to Tk 257,774 per bhori.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) disclosed the information in a notification issued on Sunday night (1 February).

Gold is being sold at the new rates from today, Monday (2 February). Earlier on Sunday morning, gold prices were increased by Tk 4,082 per bhori, but the decision was revised later that night around 9:30 pm, resulting in the latest reduction.

According to the notification, the price adjustment was made due to a decline in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market.

New gold prices are as follows:

  • 22-carat: Tk 257,774 per bhori

  • 21-carat: Tk 246,052 per bhori

  • 18-carat: Tk 210,885 per bhori

  • Traditional method: Tk 172,569 per bhori

The notification also stated that a government-mandated 5 percent VAT and a minimum 6 percent making charge set by BAJUS will be added to the selling price of gold. However, making charges may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.

Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 7,290 per bhori, 21-carat silver is Tk 6,940 per bhori, and 18-carat silver is Tk 5,949 per bhori. Under the traditional method, silver is priced at Tk 4,432 per bhori.
