AL to Benefit Most if Referendum Succeeds, Says AB Party Chief Manju

AB Party Chairman and Feni-2 constituency candidate of the 11-party alliance, Mujibur Rahman Manju, has said that the Awami League will benefit the most if the upcoming referendum receives a “Yes” verdict and the July Charter is implemented.

Speaking at a press conference in Feni on Monday night, Manju said that although AL leaders are currently promoting a “No vote” campaign, history shows that they regain political space whenever democratic practices are restored.

He referred to the post-1975 political recovery as an example of how democratic environments help political parties return to mainstream politics.

Manju described the July Charter as a welfare-oriented path for all political parties. He warned that failure to implement it would weaken Bangladesh’s democratic framework and create future instability.

Urging voters to act responsibly, he said citizens should rise above party loyalty and vote in favor of democracy and national interest.

He also emphasized the importance of prosecuting cases of mass killings and alleged state corruption, stating that justice is essential for national reconciliation.

Besides national politics, Manju highlighted local development issues in Feni, including flood control, gas shortages, youth violence, and traffic congestion. He pledged practical measures to address these problems.

Leaders of the 11-party alliance attending the event expressed optimism that the election and referendum would mark a new era in Bangladesh’s political history.
