China Backs ‘Bangladesh First’ Policy in Meeting with Prime Minister

Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat, reaffirming Beijing’s support for Dhaka’s “Bangladesh First” foreign policy.

During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed greetings from Chinese Premier Li Qiang and delivered a congratulatory message from the Chinese leadership. He also extended an invitation from the Chinese President for the Prime Minister to visit China.

China expressed continued support for Bangladesh’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, while emphasizing non-interference and deeper strategic cooperation. Both sides discussed bilateral relations, trade, governance cooperation, and the Rohingya crisis.

Prime Minister Rahman reiterated Bangladesh’s firm commitment to the “One China Policy” and pledged to elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries to new heights.
