Tollywood actress Srabanti Chatterjee has long won the hearts of audiences with her acting and dance performances on the big screen. Beginning her career as a child artist, she later became a successful lead actress, delivering a string of hit films while also exploring offbeat roles that showcased her versatility.
In addition to her acting, Srabanti is known for her dance skills. Despite not having formal training in classical dance, her performances have repeatedly impressed viewers. She recently attracted attention again with her item song performances, including the track “Kolkatar Rosgolla” from the web series “Abar Proloy 2”, and previously in the popular song “Coca-Cola” from the film “Fande Poriya Boga Kande Re”.
Speaking to Ajkal, Srabanti candidly explained her fondness for performing in item numbers: “Why not? I am primarily an actress in mainstream commercial films. I really enjoy performing in item dance numbers. They allow me to express a variety of emotions and appear in unique looks in front of the camera.”
She clarified that performing in item songs is not part of a calculated strategy. According to her, an actor or actress should be capable of performing across different formats, and she has no objection to participating in item songs alongside her acting roles.
Srabanti will soon be seen in a new avatar in the upcoming series “Thakumar Jhuli”, where she plays an elderly character named Girijabala Devi. Set in Bishnupur, her character overcomes life’s challenges with intelligence and acumen, playing a key role in solving a mysterious murder.
Fans are eagerly anticipating her bold comments and her fresh portrayal in the new series. Her statements reflect that the joy of performing through acting and dance continues to inspire her with renewed energy.
