Private University Resistance Day 2026

DHAKA, 19 July 2026: Speakers at a commemorative program urged the younger generation to cultivate civic consciousness and responsible leadership to carry forward the legacy of the historic 2024 July Movement. They emphasized that the courage and sacrifices of private university students have set a new benchmark for justice and democratic values in Bangladesh's national history.
The remarks were made during a program titled `Private University Resistance Day 2026,’ organized by UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus at its hall room on 19 July 2026.
The event was held to honor the extraordinary contributions and sacrifices of private university students during the defining 2024 uprising.
Speaking as the Special Guest, prominent youth icon and media personality Ms. Dipti Chowdhury highlighted the continuing relevance of the movement. She noted that the legacy of the July Movement places a profound responsibility on today's youth to actively safeguard democratic principles and contribute meaningfully to the nation's progress.
Sharing their firsthand experiences from the frontlines of the protests, UCSI University students Zunaidur Rahman Khan and Bushra Karim Taeen recounted the intense struggles and collective determination of the student community. Adding a faculty perspective, Mr. Mostafizur Rahman, Lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Digital Innovation (FCSDI), discussed the historical significance of the movement and underscored the irreplaceable role of students in nation-building.
In his concluding address, Major Ahmed Suman Subhan (Retd.) Provost of UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus, reflected on the core lessons of the historic event. He stressed that national development relies heavily on nurturing informed, socially conscious, and responsible leaders who are ready to serve society.
Earlier, the program commenced with a powerful visual presentation chronicling the events, sacrifices, and ultimate achievements associated with the July Movement, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a solemn moment of reflection.
