Fakir Mahbub Anam Calls for a Thoughtful Society

Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Minister for Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam has called for building a thoughtful, humane and responsible society through the integration of culture and technology.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at the ‘Barsha Baran, Gunijan Reception, Discussion and Cultural Programme’, organized by Lal-Sobuj Cultural Academy and Glamour Media Event Management, at the Music and Dance Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday (August 14) evening.

The event featured the presentation of special honors to distinguished individuals for their contributions in various fields. Md. Arfatur Rahman Apel, Chairman of Emporium Properties (Pvt.) Limited, received a special honor at the event. His presence and recognition drew particular attention among the guests and invited dignitaries.

Md. Arfatur Rahman Apel received the honor in recognition of his contributions as a businessman and entrepreneur. Representatives of the organizers presented him with a commemorative crest at the event.

Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam said that a country’s true development cannot be measured solely by economic progress. According to him, intellectual development, sound ethics and a sense of social responsibility are the true benchmarks of sustainable development.

He said digital services, including online education, telemedicine and mobile banking, have made people’s lives easier. However, he emphasized that technology must be accompanied by ethical values and cultural practices to build a humane society.

Former BNP Information and Research Secretary Rezabuddaula Chowdhury presided over the programme. Among the special guests were Dhaka Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Iqbal Hossain and Md. Arfatur Rahman Apel, Chairman of Emporium Properties (Pvt.) Limited, among others.

ATN Bangla Adviser (Programme and Broadcasting) Tasik Ahmed delivered the welcome address. Lal-Sobuj Cultural Academy President Shahida Akter Reshma and Glamour Media Managing Director Mahabubul Haque also spoke at the event.

Awards were presented to musicians associated with Glamour Media for their outstanding contributions, while distinguished personalities from various fields received honorary crests. At the event, Md. Arfatur Rahman Apel, Chairman of Emporium Properties (Pvt.) Limited, was presented with a special honor crest.

The programme concluded with an entertaining cultural performance.
