Police recovered the decomposed body of a fifth grader, who went missing on December 11, from a Mahogany orchard in Kushtia's Daulatpur upazila on Sunday afternoon six days after he went missing.

The deceased was identified as Shahin Ali, 11, son of Saner Ali, a resident of Adabaria union in the upazila. He was a fifth grader of Tekala Government Primary School.

Being informed by locals, a police team from Daulatpur Police Station recovered the decomposed body. Later, the deceased's family members identified the body of Shahin, said OC Rafiqul Islam.

Earlier on December 11, Shahin went out of his house with a battery-run van in the afternoon and didn't return home till late at night. Relatives searched him for some hours but failed to trace him and, later, filed a general diary with the police station on December 12.

"It was assumed that miscreants killed the child to rob the van and then they threw the body in the orchard. The actual reason behind the killing would be known after investigation," added OC Rafiqul Islam.
