Army will act as striking force in polls: EC Alamgir

Election Commissioner Md Alamgir on Monday said the army will be deployed as a striking force in the national elections to be held on January 7.

He came up with the comments while talking to journalists following a view exchange with the district's returning officer, assistant returning officer and local administration and members of law enforcement agencies at the deputy commissioner's office, reports BSS.

Alamgir said the safety of voters will be ensured in coming to polling centers as well as after casting votes.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mahbub Alam, Deputy Commissioner Abul Fate Mohammad Safiqul Islam and police Super Kazi Shafiqul Alam were present among others.
