The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to hoist local cautionary signal-3 as the low-pressure area over the northwest bay and adjoining southern part of Bangladesh intensified into a well-marked low.

It now lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas. Under its influence deep convection is taking place over North Bay, said a special bulletin of Met office.

Gusty or squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

The weather forecast for the inland river ports of the country from 5:00am to 1:00pm today (August 27) has said that temporary gusty or stormy winds with rain or thundershower at a speed of 45-60 km per hour may occur from South or South-East over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain closed to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
