A fire broke out at the Medicine Building of Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital. Seven units of the fire service were deployed to bring the blaze under control.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 13, around 9 AM. However, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Reports indicate that smoke has spread throughout the building. Firefighters, Ansar personnel, and hospital staff are working together to rescue the patients trapped inside.

Helal Uddin, Assistant Director of Barishal Fire Service and Civil Defense, confirmed the situation to the media, saying, "We are working to control the fire. The fire started from cotton stored in the Medicine Unit, causing heavy smoke. Efforts are underway to safely evacuate the patients."

Although the fire has been brought under control, smoke continues to permeate the building, causing panic among patients’ families and hospital staff. Distressed relatives are anxiously pleading for the safe rescue of their loved ones.
