Dengue claims two more lives in a day

Two dengue patients died in the last 24 hours till Friday morning, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in the country to 1,678 this year.

Of the new deaths, one fatality was reported in Dhaka and one death reported outside it.

According to the daily update of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), during this period 190 patients were hospitalized in different hospitals in the country.


Among the new patients, 57 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 133 outside it.


Some 1,741 dengue patients, including 512 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

So far, the DGHS has recorded 3,18,803 dengue cases, 3,15,384 recoveries, this year.

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Also, it recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
