Govt Requests to Issue Interpol's Red Notice For Hasina's Arrest

A letter has been sent to take action regarding the issuance of Interpol red notices for the arrest of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and fugitive Awami League leaders allegedly involved in the killings and genocide during the July-August mass uprising.

On Tuesday (November 12), Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) Mohammad Tajul Islam sent this letter to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moinul Islam.

Before this, on the morning of November 10, after inspecting the reform work of the International Criminal Tribunal, the Law advisor Dr Asif Nazrul told reporters that the government going to issue a Red Notice of Interpol to bring back those involved in the July-August massacre including Sheikh Hasina.

Incidentally, on October 17, the International Criminal Tribunal issued arrest warrants against 46 people including Hasina in separate cases of genocide and crimes against humanity committed in July-August.

A three-judge bench headed by International Criminal Tribunal Chairman Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar passed the order.

Earlier, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam applied for the issuance of arrest warrants against 46 people in separate cases.
