The cold is getting worse day by day in Thakurgaon district of North Bengal. As always, the district's popular news-based Facebook page 'Thakurgaon Barta' is standing by the side to alleviate the suffering of the cold-stricken people. This platform has distributed about a thousand blankets in different parts of the district over the past seven days.

'Thakurgaon Barta' is not only about spreading news, but is always involved in various welfare activities out of social responsibility. In this regard, the page's admin Naveen Hasan said,

"We do not want to be limited to just providing news, but rather want to stand by the underprivileged people of the society. Our initiative is undoubtedly small, but we are trying to alleviate the suffering of the cold-stricken people to some extent."

Admin Sarmin Hasan said, "We take up various social initiatives every year. We try to be involved in various activities including helping the poor and helpless, providing scholarships to the backward communities, preventing child marriages and planting trees to protect the environment. We also call on the wealthy in the society to stand by the cold-stricken."

Local resident Rafiqul Islam, a daily wage earner, said, "I cannot afford to buy my own, so I feel very happy to receive blankets. The way Thakurgaon Barta has stood by us is truly commendable."

Another beneficiary, Mahmuda Khatun, said, "Every year when winter comes, we suffer. This time, we got a little warmth through Thakurgaon Barta. We are grateful to them."

This humanitarian initiative of Thakurgaon Barta is undoubtedly commendable from a social responsibility perspective. Those concerned have expressed their hope to continue such assistance activities in different parts of the district.
