The "Zakat Conference 2025," a collaborative effort by the MASTUL Foundation and the Al Zakat Sadaqa Foundation, will be held on Wednesday, February 26th, at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. This announcement was made by Raihan Rahman, Convener of the Zakat Conference Organizing Committee.
The all-day conference will explore how Zakat can be a powerful tool for social development and poverty alleviation. For the past six years, the MASTUL Foundation has been dedicated to work on this issue.
The 2025 conference aims to showcase the effectiveness and transformative potential of Zakat in addressing poverty and fostering human development, while also establishing practical strategies for its implementation. Key objectives include raising public awareness about the significance of Zakat and exploring its role in creating employment opportunities.
The conference will feature workshops focusing on various aspects of Zakat, including its obligation and importance, its proper practice and dissemination, the calculation and determination of Zakat amounts, modern applications of Zakat, and transparency and accountability in its distribution. These workshops will also address best practices for institutions involved in Zakat collection and distribution.
Distinguished Islamic scholars from national and international, government officials, social workers, representatives from private organizations, development experts, educators, doctors, and donors and well-wishers of the MASTUL Foundation will be in attendance.
"We envision a society free from discrimination and poverty," stated Raihan Rahman, Convener of the organizing committee. "This can only be achieved through the proper distribution of Zakat."
He also highlighted the workshop, which will delve into optimal methods for Zakat collection and distribution. It should be noted that MASTUL Foundation's multifaceted social service activities include its own school, madrasa, orphanage and old age home where more than a hundred parentless orphans/orphaned students and the elderly live. Apart from this, more than a thousand underprivileged talented students are being provided health, nutritious food, child rights and basic needs in project schools in some districts. Besides, to stand by the people of the country in the medical sector, through the 'MASTUL Aid' project, more than half a hundred disabled crippled patients injured in road accidents are being supported with wheelchairs and prosthetic legs along with medical services. MASTUL Foundation has sewing training centers, computer training centers through which the underprivileged population is being empowered. Apart from this, more than 1000 people have been made self-reliant through the Zakat self-reliance project. MASTUL’s main work is the burial-burial service project, through which more than 3000 bodies have been buried since the start of the corona. There is MASTUL Mehmankhana, from where hundreds of helpless low-income people are fed in one day.
