The Australian High Commission in Dhaka will now handle visa applications for Bangladeshi citizens, eliminating the need to travel to Delhi.

Australian Minister for Home Affairs, Tony Burke, confirmed this decision during a phone conversation with Bangladesh's Home Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Thursday (20 March).

The Home Adviser later shared the news in a meeting with the Advisory Council at the Prime Minister's Office, stating that the decision would be implemented immediately.

It's important to note that during Australian Minister Burke's visit to Bangladesh last October, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus had made this request.

Previously, Australia had processed Bangladeshi visa applications in New Delhi.
