CA tells Myanmar

Ready to provide further humanitarian support

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed condolence over casualties caused by earthquake in Myanmar saying Bangladesh is ready to provide further humanitarian support there, reports BSS.

He said this as Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met him at his hotel on Friday on the BIMSTEC Summit's sidelines in Bangkok, Thailand.

Prof Yunus also expressed sympathy to the people of Myanmar following the tragic loss of life caused by the tremor on March 28, Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abdul Kalam Azad Majumder told the media on Saturday.

They discussed the humanitarian assistance provided by Bangladesh, including the deployment of Bangladeshi rescue teams to Myanmar in response to the disaster.

"We remain ready to provide further humanitarian support. Our ships are ready," said the Bangladesh chief adviser.

The Myanmar premier congratulated Prof Yunus on assuming the chairmanship of BIMSTEC.

He hoped the regional grouping would witness a new dynamism with the Bangladesh leadership.
