As Israeli assaults on Gaza continue to intensify, the rising death toll has sparked protests across Bangladesh in solidarity with Palestinians. However, some demonstrations in Dhaka and other areas escalated into violence, with attacks and vandalism reported at outlets including KFC, Pizza Hut, and Bata showrooms.

In response, the Chief Adviser's Press Wing issued a statement Tuesday (8 ‍April) morning condemning the incidents as threats to public safety and violations of the rule of law.

According to the statement, Bangladesh Police have already arrested at least 49 individuals connected to the violence. Two formal cases have been filed, with investigations ongoing. Authorities are also preparing to lodge further cases against those involved.

The police conducted raids late Monday night (April 7) as part of efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. Law enforcement agencies are reviewing video footage from the protests to identify those responsible. The crackdown will continue until all involved are apprehended.

The Press Wing urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information that may assist the investigation and emphasized that individuals attempting to disrupt peace and stability will be held accountable.
