5 killed in Rangamati road accident

Five people were killed and another critically injured in a collision between a pickup van and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Rangamati district this morning (April 26).

The crash occurred at around 10:45am on the Rangamati-Chittagong highway, in the Monartek area of Betbunia Union under Kawkhali Upazila.

All the victims were passengers of the auto-rickshaw. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.

Additional Superintendent of Police Maruf Ahmed confirmed the matter.

He said police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the accident.

"Further details will be available once the investigation progresses," he added.
