Rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds are likely to occur in parts of Bangladesh over the next 24 hours, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Saturday (May 3).

In its latest bulletin issued at 9am, the BMD said isolated rain or thundershowers may hit one or two places across all eight divisions — Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, and Chattogram.

A trough of low pressure extends from West Bengal to the North Bay across the southwestern part of Bangladesh, the bulletin added.

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.

The highest temperature recorded on Friday was 35.0°C in Chuadanga and Khulna, while the lowest was 20.2°C in Tetulia and Rajarhat under Rangpur division.

In Dhaka, sunset is expected at 6:28pm on Saturday, and sunrise at 5:22am on Sunday.
