Nationalist Like-Minded Alliance Coordinator and NPP Chairman Fariduzzaman Farhad has said that if an unelected government is in power for a long time, various problems arise in the country.
He said this in a dialogue with the 'National Consensus Commission' at the LD Hall of the National Parliament on Saturday (May 3) .
He said, “We want a vote where people can say after 15 long years, ‘I’ve been able to vote freely. I was able to form a government of my choice.’ We want the people of the country to be able to cast their own votes. No one can force them to vote. No one can buy votes in exchange for money.”
Farhad said, “We fully support the proposals on the Anti-Corruption Commission. We will play our role as much as we can in building the country's democracy.”
At the beginning of the dialogue, National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz spoke. He said, “We are working with the goal of creating a national charter by July 15 after discussing with everyone. There will always be differences of opinions among political parties. But we will benefit nationally only if we can build consensus on issues that require the constitution, state reconstruction and accountability.”
Commission members Safar Raj Hossain, Badiul Alam Majumder and Iftekharuzzaman were also present in this discussion. Monir Haider, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, moderated the discussion.
