The Investigation Agency of Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal has submitted a report alleging Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's involvement in ordering a deadly episode of violence described as "genocide" in July.

The report was handed over to the Chief Prosecutor’s Office on Monday (May 12), according to tribunal officials.

Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam is expected to share further details during a scheduled press briefing at 12:30 pm local time.

In a social media post last Friday, Tajul Islam indicated that the agency was preparing to submit its findings and that a formal charge against Hasina could soon follow.

"We hope the investigation report regarding the July genocide will be submitted by Monday," he wrote.

Once the investigation is officially accepted by the prosecutor’s office, the next step would involve the filing of a formal complaint—commonly referred to as a "formal charge"—which could pave the way for the beginning of legal proceedings.
