The government started taking initiatives to block online platforms of the Awami League (AL) and all its affiliates, and fraternal organizations.

A letter has been sent to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to ‘block’ AL and its affiliates and fraternal organizations’ websites, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Telegram, X (formerly Twitter) accounts.

The National Cyber Security Agency sent the letter to the BTRC in this regard on Tuesday (May 13).

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to Chief Adviser, confirmed this information to the media.

Earlier, the interim government issued a notification banning the activities of the leaders and activists of the AL and its affiliated organizations until their trial is completed at the International Crimes Tribunal. After that, the Election Commission (EC) suspended the registration of the Awami League as a political party.
