A person was detained after he tried to enter ailing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's cabin at Evercare Hospital in the capital on Saturday (December 23).

Later, the hospital authorities handed over Sujon to Vatara Police Station custody. Police said they were questioning the man.

The incident happened before Saturday afternoon.

Hospital sources said the unknown person named Sujan was moving suspiciously at about 5:00pm near Khaleda Zia's cabin. At one stage, he tried to enter Khaleda's cabin. At that time, the Evercare Hospital authorities detained him and handed him over to Vatara police.

Contacted, Vatara Police Station officer-in-charge Kazi Mainul Alam said Sujon went to Evercare Hospital to meet a doctor. Then he wanted to meet Khaleda Zia. However, he had no permission. Because of it, he was handed over to the police.

Asked whether he was detained or not, the OC said, "No, he was not detained. He is being questioned."
