Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh's Interim Government, has declared the government's commitment to transforming the nation's youth into human capital and creating employment opportunities. This pledge is aimed at establishing a new, equitable Bangladesh, a goal forged by the July mass uprising that led to the formation of the interim government.

Dr. Yunus made this statement in a message issued on Monday, July 14, ahead of 'World Youth Skills Day', observed annually on July 15.

"I am delighted to know that 'World Youth Skills Day' is being celebrated on July 15, as called for by the United Nations, like every year," Dr. Yunus stated.

The Chief Adviser emphasized that a skilled workforce is crucial for accelerating national development, meeting diverse labor demands in industries, and securing employment for a greater number of workers in the international market. He added that in the changing global landscape, there is no alternative to the optimal use of modern technology to transform the youth into a skilled workforce.

He further noted, "In this context, I believe the theme of this year's UNESCO-UNEVOC designated day – 'Empowering Youth Through Artificial Intelligence and Digital Skills' – is very appropriate."

Dr. Yunus highlighted that the government has already undertaken and implemented various initiatives to train young people based on the demands of both domestic and international labor markets, and to create employment opportunities for them. "I believe that in the coming days, Bangladesh's current position in exporting skilled manpower will be further strengthened, in addition to meeting local market demands," he said.

He mentioned that the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) is working with public and private stakeholders to build a skills development ecosystem. He urged the institution to further strengthen all its activities aimed at creating skilled youth resources.

Professor Yunus stated that to establish a modern, developed Bangladesh, it is essential to equip the youth with skills that make them suitable for evolving workplaces and empower them as entrepreneurs. He expressed hope that 'World Youth Skills Day, 2025' will play a significant role in raising awareness on this issue.

Finally, the Chief Adviser extended his best wishes for the overall success of all programs undertaken for 'World Youth Skills Day'.
