Bangladesh is set to purchase 25 aircraft from US-based company Boeing, Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman said on Sunday (July 27).

He shared the information while speaking to reporters at his office at the Ministry of Commerce in the Secretariat in Dhaka.

“The Boeing business is not run by the US government, but by the Boeing company itself,” the commerce secretary clarified. “We have placed an order for 25 Boeing aircraft. For comparison, India ordered 100 aircraft, Vietnam ordered 100, and Indonesia also ordered 100.”

He further said that the supply of the aircraft will depend on the company’s capacity and timeline.

“Boeing will deliver them based on their production capabilities. So, it will take a significant amount of time,” he said.

No additional details such as the types of aircraft, total cost, or timeline for delivery were immediately disclosed, he added.
