Welcoming the July Declaration and the announcement of the date for national elections in February next year, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that this historic July Declaration will break the political deadlock in Bangladesh and pave the way for transition to democracy.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir shared this view in a reaction to a press conference at the party chairperson's office in Gulshan, the capital, on Wednesday (August 6) at 12:15 pm.

He said, “BNP believes that the government and the Election Commission will take all measures to make this election fair, free, impartial and acceptable to all. BNP is calling on all political parties and the people to make this election successful, institutionalize democracy and build an effective national parliament.”
