Bangladesh is set to hold its next national election by mid-February 2026, Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said Tuesday.

Speaking at a joint press briefing after meeting Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Yunus expressed confidence in the country’s readiness for the upcoming polls.

“We are ready for the national election around mid-February 2026,” he said.

He also invited Malaysian investors to explore Bangladesh’s vast economic potential.

Regarding the Rohingya crisis, Yunus called it a major challenge and appealed to ASEAN for support in addressing the issue.

Earlier, Yunus and Anwar Ibrahim signed five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and three Exchange of Notes, marking the first day of Yunus’s three-day visit to Malaysia.
