Umama Fatema, an independent vice president candidate in the DUCSU polls, on Tuesday morning said she was receiving positive support from the voters and was hopeful about winning the elections.

Umama, a key figure in last year’s uprising, spoke to reporters in front of the polling centre at Udayan School on university campus.

About the election environment, she said the situation was stable as of 10:30am, and hoped the stability was maintained through the ballot casting process. The voting is expected to end at 4pm.

Students were coming in large numbers and casting their votes enthusiastically, Umama said.

She was not considering rejecting the outcome and wished to see the vote-casting end properly, Umama said.
