Interpol has issued a Red Notice against former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed in connection with corruption charges.

The matter was confirmed by Enamul Haque Sagar, Assistant Inspector General of the Public Relations and Media Wing at the Police Headquarters. He stated that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had submitted a request for the Red Notice, along with relevant case documents. Following their submission, Interpol officially issued the notice.

According to police sources, the Red Notice was issued on April 10, making Benazir the first former IGP in Bangladesh's history to face such international action.

Although the notice has been issued, Benazir's profile has not yet appeared on Interpol’s official "Most Wanted" list. Authorities explained that certain formalities are still in progress, and once completed, the notice will be made publicly visible on the Interpol website.

Benazir is currently on the run with his family, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Meanwhile, Interpol is also reviewing legal matters concerning Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 11 others, who reportedly left the country during the public protests on August 5. Red Notices may also be issued against them soon.
